Game Changer’s CAMP is an interactive FREE 4-day ONLINE event. CAMP is an inclusive and participant-driven unconference that examines the relationship between technology (both online and offline) and organisations working against radicalisation and polarisation among young people.
Our aim is to gather and build a network of individuals and organisations working with youth and helping to strengthen and empower future generations. The Game Changer Community’s aim is to collaborate and share how technology through games and campaigns – both online and offline – can be used to empower young people and build resilience to violent extremism and polar ideologies.
This event is open to NGO/CSO representatives, academia, activists, industry experts and community leaders, who are supporting young people in becoming more open-minded and engaged citizens that create change in their local communities.
The Game Changer CAMP will take place on the HOPIN.TO platform, which we chose with networking and connectivity in mind. Our event not only will focus on educating and collaborating on a variety of different topics, but also building meaningful connections and networks to further the work we are all doing.
The Game Changer CAMP will share the latest research, best practices, methodology regarding how to plan, run and evaluate effective online and offline campaigns, how to design and run Social City Games and share knowledge with other NGOs, activists and experts directly (or indirectly) addressing P/CVE (Preventing/Countering Violent Extremism) work. Field experts and Game Partners will also lead sessions related to their experiences in the P/CVE space, working with youth and how to help create change in young people to lead to a more inclusive and open-minded world.
Our CAMP will also provide an opportunity to see what other work is being done in the sector, provide NGOs/CSOs an opportunity to engage in open, meaningful and out-of-the-box thinking and further connect others in the space, which we ultimately hope leads to networks that will utilise one another as resources to create change.
For now, here is what you should to know about the program of our CAMP:
Our CAMP consist of 4- 5 hour – from 10am till 4 pm (GMT +2) with a 1-hour break to grab lunch and network.
Each day will open with a 20min keynote speech, then participants will head into breakout rooms to participate in our well-planned engaging, informative, and collaborative sessions. Each breakout session will last no longer than 90 minutes.
Working with youth is very often done alone. We know you may work within a broader project, or simply can’t dedicate your entire day to attend our event. That is why we ask you to sign up giving 2-3 additional names from your organisation, project or within your field of work. This way, your network can attend the event in its entirety and you can ensure each person attending is present for sessions they find most relevant, thus creating the biggest impact in your organisation and network.
By applying for the CAMP you hav the possibility to WIN a MINI-GRANT to play (and possibly build your own) an educational Social City Game with the youth you serve.
Over the last 2 years, the Game Changer Team (project partners and youth-leaders from France, Greece and Poland) devloped and tested several Social City Games and our net online Social RPG, which aims to counter hate speech, discrimination and racism (to name a few).
We will support those NGOs, CSOs and youth workers who commit to conduct 2 Social City Games (either offline or online games) until March 2021.
We will provide additional trainings, methodological support and financial support in the form of mini-grants up to EUR 1,500.
